Events & Programs
Thursday, October 15 (4 PM CT)
Don't miss the live regional premiere series of Fishing with Dynamite – a new documentary on Stakeholder Capitalism. This film, featuring Ed Freeman, one of the founders of the Conscious Capitalism movement, exposes the destructive effects of capitalism focused solely on maximizing shareholder value rather than stakeholder companies that meet the needs of employees, customers, suppliers, investors, communities, and the environment.
The Central Region event includes a film screening followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers, local business leaders, and other Conscious Capitalists.

As the founder of a purpose driven company, it was very exciting to learn there was an organization behind Conscious Capitalism. After hearing John Mackey speak, I immediately reached out to join the Kansas City chapter, only to find we did not have one – yet. A few months later, it became apparent that starting a chapter in Kansas City also helped fulfill (my company’s) Redemption Plus’ purpose. There is an amazing opportunity for learning and growth as we walk along this path with other companies and leaders that are attracted to the idea of elevating humanity through business!
Founder and Chief Enrichment Officer of Redemption Plus.
For over twenty years, Ron has been laser focused on innovating the delivery and redemption of merchandise for Family Entertainment Centers, along with every aspect that affects game room profitability and beyond. During that time, Redemption Plus has turned the industry on its head, and in the process, changed the way the entire segment operates. Customers win through increased efficiency, streamlined operations, and an end result that increases profitability through a better guest experience at their respective businesses. Ron is currently focused on helping change redemption into a tool for doing good, making the world a better place, and strengthening an entire industry — in addition to a few other Big Ideas!
Christina fell in love with Conscious Capitalism after hearing John Mackey of Whole Foods and Co-Founder and Co-Author of Conscious Capitalism speak on November 30, 2016 in Kansas City at the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program’s annual retreat. John shared some of his hard-earned wisdom from his own journey toward building a culture based on love, community, and purpose. This concept has been Christina’s life work and as she became aware of the Conscious Capitalism community she knew she needed to learn more. After reading Conscious Capitalism and attending the April 2017 Conscious Capitalism conference, both Ron Hill and Christina resolved to found a local Kansas City chapter, which they launched in November 1st, 2017 with six founding members.
Christina’s passion for Conscious Capitalism and the belief that companies can and should be a force for good has manifested itself in every aspect of her life. As the Culture Crusader (aka Chief People & Culture Officer) at Redemption Plus, Christina is responsible for developing and executing on human resource strategies that reinforce and support Redemption Plus’s overall culture, core values, behaviors, and strategic growth plans. As an experienced business owner, coach and consultant, her unique and well-rounded business acumen has proved invaluable, in driving the success of Redemption Plus, while building a partnership culture. Christina has over 15 years of non-profit board, committee and event planning experience and currently serves as a board member for Cultivate KC, a local non-profit working to grow food, farms, and communities for a healthy local food system. Christina and her husband, Gary, have two fur-baby “French Bulldogs” Fiona and Brutus that keep them busy and entertained. They love to garden, travel, read and, in their extra time, enjoy seeing art as well as making some of their own.
For more than 35 years, Doug has served in a variety of leadership roles within Kansas City businesses, as well as being the founder of the Leadership Institute of Kansas City. Doug’s career has focused on helping organizations develop leadership talent at all levels. Whether it be leadership coaching, facilitating the development of leadership teams or helping create and sustain successful organizations, the foundation of Doug’s passion is leadership.
Doug feels blessed to have had a wonderful career and raise his family in Kansas City. As he entered the next stage of his career and life, he was searching for a way to give back to Kansas City and contribute to the development of the next generation of Kansas City leaders. He believes in leadership that makes a positive difference in the world and recognizes the humanity in every person. The principles and beliefs of Conscious Capitalism is the perfect platform to answer that call.
As a young professional who is still learning and analyzing theses radical professional changes happening in our world, I’m very intrigued by how we can apply the Conscious Capitalism philosophies/models. I strive to live a life where I am conscious about the people, resources, policies, organizations, and opportunities that help serve a greater good purpose.
Fundamentally I learned principles and values by serving on mission trips, working for a mega-church, and applying the educational degrees I’ve earned. For more than 10 years, I've been able to work creatively with national level brands, publications, and advertising agencies across the country. I currently oversee sales & marketing for Media Club - a podcast-first creative production studio in Kansas City.
I believe that audio is the channel to the mind. At Media Club, we are on the pursuit to leverage the power of shared knowledge, information, and storytelling through the podcast we produce.
Apart from my career, I enjoy experiential learning. Often I am believing in big ideas, like hitting my first hole-in-one on a golf course. My time is spent with the ones I love, traveling the world and staying actively healthy.
