Great Lakes Bay Region Chapter
John L. Kaczynski serves as vice president for Governmental and Community Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University, where he builds partnerships among higher education, government, business and community organizations. A member of the SVSU community since 2005, John represents the University in Lansing, Washington, D.C., and throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. His work is centered on creating opportunities for students, strengthening communities and bringing people together around shared regional priorities.
John also serves as Saginaw County Commissioner for District 7 and as president of the Michigan Political History Society. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in workforce development, college access, civic education and regional collaboration. He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University and is a Ph.D. candidate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Toledo.
John became involved with Conscious Capitalism because its belief that business can be a force for good closely reflects his own approach to leadership and public service. The principles of higher purpose and stakeholder orientation resonate especially strongly with him. He believes organizations achieve their greatest success when they create lasting value not only for their bottom line, but also for their employees, customers and communities.
As a member of the Great Lakes Bay Region Chapter’s Board of Directors, John is passionate about bringing leaders together across sectors, encouraging meaningful partnerships and helping translate the principles of Conscious Capitalism into action throughout the region.
A fourth-generation resident of the Great Lakes Bay Region, John lives in Frankenmuth with his wife, Martha, and their son, George.
