Melissa was introduced to Conscious Capitalism at a young age by her parents who were successful entrepreneurs and always led in a very mindful way. The motto her father instilled in her at a young age was “The greatest reward of leadership is to create jobs and opportunities that improve lives.” A motto she took with her in her own career.
In her previous role, Melissa led business development for a data and insights company that specialized in the restaurant industry. For close to twenty years, the company continually proved through benchmarking that companies that were ethical, took care of their key stakeholders and focused on creating a positive culture also proved to be those that were most profitable. Connecting the dots between people, profits and the planet became the mission. Melissa and her organization became members of Conscious Capitalism’s Senior Leader Network where they found a community of like minded leaders who made a positive impact on her professional and personal life.
Melissa has a Bachelor’s degree from Johnson & Wales University in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Born and raised in the restaurant industry, she is a foodie and service leader at heart. Melissa serves on the board of the Texas Restaurant Association as well as an Advisory Board Member for the Tupelo Honey Employee Relief Fund.
When not working, her days are filled with her family, including her husband Douglas and her four daughters Anya, Ava, Sophia and Maizi. They love to travel and every year pick a new state to explore with no reservations.
