Speculated by many to become the next Berkshire Hathaway, Markel Corporation is also an exemplary practitioner of Conscious Capitalism. We are so very proud to announce Markel’s Co-CEO, Tom Gayner, as a keynote speaker at Conscious Capitalism’s 11th annual CEO Summit, October 10-12.
Prior to being promoted to Co-CEO, Tom served as Markel’s Chief Investment Officer, where he managed the company’s equity portfolio to drive a 127% return from 2005 to 2015, handily outperforming the S&P 500’s 81% gain over the same period.
Among its conscious practices, the $9 billion insurance and reinsurance business utilizes its own operational and value investing philosophy, The Markel Style, to maintain its creed of “honesty and fairness in all our dealings.” To give you a taste of what to expect, we’ve included below a link to Tom’s recent Google Talk, “The Evolution of a Value Investor.”
We eagerly look forward to hearing Tom’s thoughts at this year’s CEO Summit on how Markel will continue to achieve success while maintaining its reputation as a conscious publicly-traded company—and we hope you’ll be there with us, too! If you’re a conscious executive leader, don’t delay…we expect this year’s CEO Summit to sell out faster than usual. Register today!
