Elevating humanity through business

David Rendall at CC2017

So looking forward to seeing a certain “freak” at Conscious Capitalism 2017!

That freak? David Rendall, a stand-up comedian turned management professor turned motivational speaker and author of The Freak Factor: Discovering Uniqueness by Flaunting Weaknesses.

Check out his below TEDx talk and see why peer authors and keynote speakers like Daniel Pink (Drive and A Whole New Mind) are saying things like:

“Dave Rendall has a radical prescription for chronic dissatisfaction:  Stop working on your weaknesses and start amplifying them instead. The Freak Factor flips the cult of self-improvement on its head with stories of real people who have soared to succeed by embracing their uniqueness.”

HigherPurpose17 Recap

Thank you to all who attended, participated, planned and orchestrated the wonderful one-day conference on February 28 in San Francisco that was HigherPurpose17!

The stellar program included interviews with Whole Foods Market co-founder & CEO, John Mackey; founder & CEO of Habit and co-founder & chairman of Plum Organics, Neil Grimmer; Great Place to Work president, Chinwe Onyeagoro; chief philanthropy officer at Salesforce, Suzanne DiBianca, group business director at DDB San Francisco, Matt Perry; Three Stone Hearth co-founder, Jessica Prentice; and Smart Tribes Institute founder, Christine Comaford.

We could tell you about all the invaluable takeaways from the conference, but this LinkedIn article titled “Keeping Inspiration Alive after Attending a Conference” by Tina Dao, a senior director of product engineering at Fitbit, is a fitting tribute to two of our featured female conscious capitalists on this International Women’s Day. You can also see how much fun attendees were having in the event’s photo album.

We hope to see you at the next Conscious Capitalism event, whether that be the upcoming Spring Conference, April 18-20 in Philadelphia, or a local conference like HigherPurpose, which we were so honored to have co-hosted with the Bay Area Chapter of Conscious Capitalism.

2016 Annual Report

It’s our pleasure to present you with Conscious Capitalism, Inc. (CCI)’s 2016 Annual Report!

2016 was a pivotal year in the history of Conscious Capitalism. We opened a new office in San Francisco. We hosted the 10th Annual CEO Summit. And we expanded to 33 chapters across the globe. Learn about all this and more in our very first Annual Report.

This is just the beginning, though. Earlier this week, CCI partnered with our Bay Area chapter to bring over 200 individuals together for Higher Purpose17, a day-long conference featuring diverse speakers aligned with purpose-driven business. Over the rest of 2017, we plan to advance the movement by launching more chapters, hosting more events, offering more training for companies on the Conscious Capitalism journey, and sharing more stories of elevating humanity through business from our community.

Thank you for helping make 2016 CCI’s best year to date. We hope that you’ll join us in ensuring 2017 is even better by becoming a sponsor or attending our 2017 Spring Conference in Philadelphia from April 18th-20th to hear from speakers like REI CEO, Jerry Stritzke; Great Place to Work CEO, Michael Bush; Thinx CEO, Miki Agrawal; Freak Factor Founder, Dave Rendall, and more.

We look forward to our shared journey to create a world in which business is both practiced and perceived as the greatest force for good.

Busting Taboos to Elevate Humanity

Miki Agrawal, co-founder and CEO of the innovative women’s undergarment company THINX, is not one to shy away from controversial subjects. And that’s more than fine with the thousands of women whose daily routine has changed for the better due to her ambitious endeavor to revolutionize the world of feminine hygiene.

Not only are we proud to have Miki sit on Conscious Capitalism, Inc.’s Board of Directors, but we are thrilled to have her as a keynote speaker and practicum leader at our annual spring conference in Philadelphia, April 18-20.

You can get to know why so many have become inspired by Miki, THINX and her expanding line of other businesses dedicated to solving problems that most others are often too embarrassed to talk about in this CNN Money article and video interview. And don’t forget to register for Conscious Capitalism 2017 to experience a transformational event like no other. Continue reading…

Calling All Conscious Students!

As the premier nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating humanity through business, we are excited to announce our first Student Business Plan Competition with more than $75,000 in prizes to be awarded to the top four winning student teams.  Deadline to enter is March 14, 2017.

Open to U.S. and international students attending undergraduate, graduate and high school/secondary academic institutions, the Conscious Capitalism Student Business Plan Competition invites the submission of businesses–both early stage and conceptual–which are based on a Higher Purpose beyond solely maximizing profit, one of the four guiding tenets of Conscious Capitalism. Winning entries will also be judged on how the business will live up to that purpose through implementation of Conscious Capitalism’s other three tenets: Stakeholder Orientation, Conscious Leadership and Conscious Culture.

“If Conscious Capitalism is to become synonymous with ‘business as usual,’ future generations will need to embrace and practice capitalism as a force for good in the world,” said Conscious Capitalism, Inc. co-CEOs, Doug Rauch and Alexander McCobin. “Millennials and the subsequent Generation Z will determine whether a more conscious practice of capitalism can indeed elevate humanity through business well into the next century. We are thrilled to give them the opportunity to do just that.” Continue reading…
